Epic Funk Brass Band

Epic Funk Brass Band is a high-energy brass ensemble from Jackson, Mississippi, bringing the spirit of New Orleans second-line music together with funk, hip-hop, soul, and an unmistakable Mississippi flavor. Since forming in 2016, the band has built a reputation for infectious rhythms, powerful horns, and electrifying performances that turn concerts, festivals, weddings, and private events into celebrations.

Inspired by groups such as Rebirth Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band, Big 6 Brass Band, and New Breed Brass Band, Epic Funk has developed a sound all its own. The band's growing résumé includes an appearance in the Mardi Gras scene of the television series Queer as Folk, five commercials for the City of Jackson, a Malaco All-Access appearance, and performances connected with artists including The Flaming Lips, Dumpstaphunk, The Revivalists, Afroman, and Grammy-winning blues artist Mr. Sipp.

The current lineup features original members Eddie Newton on snare drum and Phillip Kelly on trumpet, along with Joshua Hood, Robert Estes, and Nicolas Organ on trombone; DeVante Rawls and Rigel Robinson on trumpet; Tellis Moaton and Jermaine Hughes on tuba; Cedric Wiley on tenor saxophone; and Shaun Stamps on bass drum. Together, they deliver the musicianship, showmanship, and crowd-moving energy that have become the Epic Funk signature.
